About Me

Esther Gelman

My name’s Esther and this is my story.

Years ago, if someone had told me I’d be a photographer, I would not have believed them. But that’s how life is, unpredictable and yet rewarding.

I was at a flea market in Italy browsing through photographs from the last century, when I came across two pictures, the years had faded them, but I would never forget those images. They were of two adorable babies donning lace caps and gleefully posing for a photographer. The pictures were from the early 1900s and had the names of the children inscribed on the back.

It took me some time to realize that what I was looking at was actually century-old photos of two children who I’d never met, whose parents I didn’t know, and yet, they had fascinated me.

It was then and there that I decided to become a newborn photographer, as I believed this would allow me to capture moments that would be cherished not only by parents but by family members for generations.
